Frente a esa dinámica que Juan Pablo II definió proféticamente como «ricos cada vez más ricos a costa de pobres cada vez más pobres», el texto que el lector tiene en sus manos muestra que otra Iglesia y otro mundo son no solo posibles sino necesarios.Como el autor señala con coraje,la Iglesia podría tener mucho que decir en la actual crisis si se mantuviese fiel al Evangelio y no quebrantase la voluntad de Dios apelando a tradiciones humanas, por lo que esta institución debería adoptar una actitud caracterizada por la resistencia, la profecía y la utopía; una utopía que se haga creíble «en pequeños gestos liberadores», en medio de tanta mentira, frustración y desesperación. Como el propio Castellanos sugiere, citando a Albert Camus, «ya que no tenemos poder contra el dolor, hagamos algo para solucionar la miseria».
