Synopsis "Rochelle - Poacher of Versailles"

Readers agree that there is a mini-series in this book, set during the time of Protestants VS. Catholics 30 years War. Protestants known as Huguenots fled France to settle in England. Rochelle's father - Jean was a poacher of Versailles. He taught Rochelle everything he knew about the practicalities of eking out a simple, yet comfortable existence, due to his poaching skills.Upon his death, his then 13-year old daughter became orphaned. Her own journey takes flight, as she is educated by her experiences from adolescence to womanhood. "Rochelle stood up steadily, her eyes focused, her wits ready for any possible manoeuvre to help her escape. With one sudden move, she darted straight at the horse hitting it in the neck and screaming at the same time. The horse reared at the unexpected movement and noise, dislodging the rider, but it also blocked her escape into the dense undergrowth on the near-shore, so she turned and plunged into the deeper pool near the bank on the far side ..." Her journey eventually takes her to Devon, England, where she had to adapt to the English language and subsequent way of life. Where does life lead her next?Having a passion for history, the author fills his settings with atmospheric descriptions. This ability, coupled with a distinctive voice and strong story concept makes for a unique point of difference in this genre.Rochelle - Poacher of Versailles is a sweeping saga that stays with the readers long after they finish the book.Although this book stands alone, for those who want to read further, the author has commenced the sequel and intends to finish the third book in the setting of The Upper Murray in North-East Victoria, Australia ... where he still resides.
