Five hundred twenty-three humans aboard the faster-than-light spaceship Archimedes (FTLSS-1) were a thousand light years above the Milky Way Galaxy searching for a habitable planet. They had left Earth to escape worsening conditions there and to provide increased chances of survival of the human race. Unfortunately, or fortunately, they were captured by an advanced alien race. This book describes the experiences of ten members of the Archimedes crew as they are being tested by the aliens. Their examination explores human intelligence, morality, wisdom, consciousness, and artificial intelligence. Are they suitable for adoption into the alien race? If so, what effect might this have on the inhabitants of Earth and on the human race? The book combines romance, hard-core science fiction, suspense, and what can only be termed fantasy in current human knowledge.
