el texto teatro, religión y sociedad recoge las ponencias presentadas al v encuentro internacional de dramaturgia de la valldigna, que se celebró en valencia y la valldigna, entre los días 20 y 23 de junio de 2004, y en el que participaron autores y directores teatrales nacionales y extranjeros con el propósito de debatir sobre el tema que da título al libro. con participación de autores, directores y teóricos del hecho teatral, las distintas ponencias presentan una reflexión en torno a los modos en que el teatro contemporáneo aborda la aprehensión de los temas que dan título al texto desde distintas poéticas y modelos de expresión, y los diversos articulistas parecen llegar a la conclusión de que no existen estéticas privilegiadas o superiores, sino que los creadores y pensadores parecen apostar, en estos últimos tiempos, por la investigación, por la búsqueda, por la reflexión; creadores y pensadores que asumen riesgos, que aciertan o se equivocan, que podrán conectar con un público numeroso o escaso, pero que nunca olvidan el papel social del teatro.
