Synopsis "That One Face: The Doctrine of Christ in the First Six Centuries of Christianity"

-ABOUT THE BOOK: That One Face. One of the greatest challenges for the early New Testament churches was understanding and explaining the nature of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Trinity. Faced with persecution from without and heretical challenges from within, the first pastors and church leaders searched the Scriptures to understand how Jesus could be both God and man. With the Bible as their guide, they grappled with differing views and the implications of those views. That One Face is their story of triumph and, sometimes, heretical missteps. This historical and theological study will remind us of the great treasures of Scripture and the incredible work of the Lord in guiding His churches as they formulated these essential doctrines.-ABOUT THE EDITOR: Michael R. Spradlin, PhD, is the author of Sons of the 43rd and numerous scholarly articles on church history, missions, and evangelism. He has edited and revised Beaman's Commentary on the Gospel of John, Studies in Genesis: A Creation Commentary, and Personal Evangelism. He has lectured extensively throughout the United States and around the world. Dr. Spradlin serves as the president of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, a role he has held for twenty-five years. He is a member of Mid-America's church history faculty and chair of the evangelism department.-ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Lawrence Reginald Barnard, ThD, was born in a pastor's family in Australia as the fourth of five children. Later entering the ministry himself, he eventually served as a pastor and theologian on three continents: Australia, Europe, and North America. His significant pastoral experience and passion for Christology greatly influenced his teaching ministry at several schools. He ultimately served on the faculty of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary as a professor of historical theology and Christian history and as the director of the Ora Byram Allison Library.-ABOUT THE PUBLISHER: Innovo Publishing LLC is an independent publisher of Christian and wholesome titles located near Memphis, TN.
