Synopsis "The battle of mice and Frogg's: A short and epic parody in verse (Paperback)"

Batrachomyomachia (Battle of frogs and mice) is a short, epic parody in verse, assigned to an anonymous writer. However, allegedly the poem is attributed to a pair of poets with substantial time difference between them: Homer and Pigres of Halicarnassus, Caria. The comic aspect of Batrachomyomachia is a parody of the Iliad. The poet uses the language and its verse to tell a war-story that bears some similarity to the trojan war, but one where the human heroes are replaced by frogs and mice. The overall aim of the parody is to provoke laughter and cheerfulness while mocking an original work. In this in particular it trivializes warfare. It's goal is to bring down war to the level of an armed dispute between mice and frogs. This work has been popular with a wide audience both in ancient times and after.
