Synopsis "The Gatekeeper: A Lillie McMannis Mystery"

Lillie McMannis is following in her Grandmother Agnes's footsteps as a Gatekeeper to Heaven. Lillie sits with people who are dying, helping guide their souls to the meadow and the bridge to the Light of Heaven. She hears the story of their lives and watches them reunite with loved ones who are waiting to welcome them Home. While in an altered state, she meets Henry, a young man in his early twenties. He is confused and upset. She realizes he has died, but doesn't realize it, as happens often when death comes suddenly. She talks to him and gently tells him he has died. Once he accepts the news, he insists that he was murdered by a nurse he met in the emergency room of a local hospital. He asks her help in finding the woman who killed him. She takes Henry to the Meadow and agrees to look into his death, although she has no idea how she can do this. On another visit to the meadow, Henry introduces her to Kevin, who claims the same woman who killed Henry, also killed him.
Lillie begins a journey into the world of murder and law enforcement. And the task of convincing Daniel Simmons, a by the book Sacramento Homicide Detective, that Henry's and Kevin's deaths were not accidental Heroin overdoses, as the Coroner concluded, but murder. The big issue for Lillie is, how will Detective Simmons respond when she tells him she received her information direct from the victims, after their deaths. Could there be more victims? Could this be the work of a serial killer?
