Synopsis "The Life of a Mental Patient on the PGA Tour: I may be crazy but I am not stupid"

PGA Tour golf is pressure packed and it is easy for mental breakdowns to occur. This is the story of two golfers leading lives independent of each other. They become institutionalized to mental hospitals and then recover to return to the PGA tour and meet in the playoff with each other for the Masters golf tournament. Along the way, their hilarious antics are loved by the fans but a source of frustration to the Tour administration. While in the mental wards, they are up to their fun old tricks and antics of sneaking out of the wards at night for nightlife, partying, sex, etc. although it is a humorous novel the story bring to light the life in a mental ward and the difficulty of treating mental patients. Many of the happenings in the wards are based on true occurrences. Our two central pro golfers find out that many of the patients are labeled "crazy" but are actually intelligent in some areas and talented in others. As the title suggest, they may be crazy but they are not stupid, and this is why they turn the mental wards upside down. Dr. Gerald A. Walford earned his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. He has written many books on sport sciences, skill learning and teaching. His doctoral studies was on psychology and the use and understanding of humor. Dr. Walford has coached university hockey and golf and is a member of the Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA).
