Synopsis "The Quartet: After-Care Lives of Irish Catholic Homeboys"
ABOUT THIS BOOK Give me the child..... The Quartet were 4 unrelated Irish boys who grew up in care together in the 1920's and 1930's in a large, single-sex home run by the Poor Sisters of Nazareth in Sligo. Their childhoods in care have already been published in: The Quartet: Care Lives of Irish Catholic Homeboys (2016). This second book (which requires no knowledge of the previous volume) contains: 1. Four individual biographies of the adult lives of the Quartet. 2. Collective accounts of their contemporaries in care. 3. Anonymous case studies and child care research findings. 4. Research and reflection about adult memory of childhood. 5. Discussion of how adults shape and can (re) interpret the narrative of their life. A particular question explored throughout this book is: How and to what degree were the adult lives of The Quartet shaped by their childhood indoctrination and socialisation: ..... and I will give you the man. This book is based on 7 years of interviews and research that has uncovered and created many new primary records.
