Synopsis "Thiyaga Bhoomi (in Tamil)"

The first Tamil Novel which was serialised in a weekly - Ananda Vikatan and filmed simultaneously. The stills from the movie was printed at the apt places. This is a story of an innocent Brahmin girl suffering in in laws place and ultimately became rich. Husband makes restoration of family rights and wants to live with her. To avoid that situation she became a freedom fighter and got jailed. The repented husband joined with her in freedom struggle and also in Jail. The film was banned by British Govt. as it highlighted the freedom struggle. The heroine's original name was Savithiri, which she changed to UMA Devi, when she became rich. Again this name inspired me to name my daughter. There is a child character, daughter of the heroine, named Charu; it was portrayed by a child star named Baby Saroja. Many girl children were named Saroja after the film was released. This book is a must for all book lovers.
