TWENTYSIX [ABANDONED] GASOLINE STATIONS es, a la vez, una 'apropiación' y un 'homenaje' al fotógrafo estadounidense Ed Ruscha, asociado al movimiento Pop, que en 1962 comenzó a fotografiar gasolineras situadas en la mítica Ruta 66, en los estados de Arizona, New Mexico, Texas o California. Exactamente cuarenta años después de que Ed Ruscha registrara sus 26 gasolineras, Iñaki Bergera procedea fotografiar otras tantas estaciones entre junio y agosto de 2012. Pero Iñaki Bergera no se detiene ahí. Le interesa también todo loque rodea la cultura del automóvil, la arquitectura comercial o industrial, la dialéctica naturaleza/tecnología, las marcas y los anuncios, la estandarización o las estructuras anónimas. Sus veintiséis gasolineras [abandonadas] son un perfecto ejemplo de arquitectura de lo NO NUEVO, de lo que ha caído en desuso y se ha vuelto obsoleto.
