Synopsis "Women Social Workers at the Grassroots of Democracy"
The transition from dictatorship to democracy involved a complex process of transition that involved the efforts of all strata of society. One of the fundamental groups in the construction of this new reality was that of social workers, pioneering professionals who laid the foundations on which the Welfare State would be built. While the country's politics was focused on consolidating the new legislative framework, social professionals had to deal with the most pressing problems. During the performance of their work, still mostly voluntary and unknown, they moved through the regulations of a country in transition to find immediate solutions for the most needy groups. However, their social participation was not only practical, but also translated into the theoretical and institutional sphere, being fundamental in the propagation of new intervention theories. In this work we want to approach this reality through a local study, with the intention of offering a radiography with names and surnames of these pioneering women.
