Yaci vive con su mamá en un poblado de Brasil. Con una mazorca de maíz. Yaci se ha hecho una muñeca preciosa, pero la quiere tanto que se olvida de ayudar a mamá en las cosas de la casa. Cuando mamá se enfada y amenaza con confiscar la muñeca, Yaci se asusta y entierra a su muñeca, cerca de donde la tortuga ha enterrado sus huevos. Cuando pasa el invierno y llega la primavera, le espera una sorpresa.
