Synopsis "You Belong"
You Belong is a rhyming bedtime book that takes sleepy children on a journey to all the places they belong. From rocking chair to room, from room to house, neighborhood, state, country, world, solar system--and back--the story satisfies the explorer in every young child, introducing a universe of wonder where all belong. This multicultural story depicts a Latino-Anglo family and the son's Black friend in a world of many cultures and races. How to learn geography through detailed illustrations giving children the fun of finding a red wooden swing in every picture, and of identifying miniature landmarks and animals of mid-Atlantic states, the US, the world, and even the solar system. As the sleepy child explores even further with a telescope, he leaves his stuffed bunny on the red swing, until Dad spots the missing one and reunites them. The book ends back in the rocking chair again, because "you belong in my lap in the old rocking chair that sits in the room at the top of the stair."
