Synopsis "Game of Life and how to Play it "

Informal, friendly, and humorous, this little book has inspired thousands since its 1925 publication. Its practical examples show how positive attitudes can make you a "winner" in life. Self-improvement expert Norman Vincent Peale endorsed it as an essential guide, helping readers to "find prosperity, solve problems, have better health." Written by an artist and teacher in an entertaining, easy-to-read style, this volume presents brief, concise instructions. Author Florence Scovel Shinn draws upon Biblical examples to explain the timeless principles behind her recipe for success. Real-life stories of her many clients illustrate how life can be transformed from a losing battle to a winning game.

Florence Scovel Shinn (Camden, New Jersey, 1871 – New York, 1940) was an American artist, illustrator, and writer, prominent in the New Thought movement. After starting her career as an illustrator in publications like Harper’s, she became a spiritual teacher and author of metaphysical works that combine Christian teachings with principles of affirmation and positive thinking.

Among her most influential works are The Game of Life and How to Play It (1925), Your Word is Your Wand (1928), and The Secret Door to Success (1940). Also published posthumously were The Power of the Spoken Word (1945) and The Magic Path of Intuition (2013). Her books, focused on spirituality and personal development, continue to be references in the fields of self-help and metaphysics.
