Synopsis "Nuevo Ocho Pasos Hacia La Felicidad: El Modo Budista de Amar (in Spanish)"

Geshe Kelsang Gyatso (1931–2022) was a prominent Tibetan Buddhist teacher, monk, and author, known for his work in spreading Kadampa Buddhism in the modern world. Born in Yangcho Tang, Tibet, he was given the name Lobsang Chuponpa and was ordained as a monk at the age of eight, adopting the name Gelsang Gyatso, which means “Ocean of Good Fortune”. He studied at the great monastic universities of Tibet and earned the title of Geshe, equivalent to a PhD in Buddhist philosophy. Under the guidance of his spiritual teacher, Trijang Rinpoche, he dedicated eighteen years to meditation retreats in the foothills of the Himalayas.

In 1977, he accepted an invitation to teach at the Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre in England, where he resided until his passing in 2022. From there, he founded the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT), an international Buddhist organization with over 1,300 centers worldwide. Geshe-la authored 23 books on Buddhism and meditation, which have been translated into numerous languages and are used in study programs at Kadampa centers.

His legacy continues through a global community dedicated to world peace and the development of inner peace through the practice of Kadam Dharma.
