Louise Lynn Hay (Los Angeles, October 8, 1926-San Diego, August 30, 2017) was an American writer and speaker, considered one of the most representative figures of the New Thought movement and a precursor of self-help books
She initially worked as a high fashion model during the 1950s and 1960s. In 1976, she published her first book, Heal Your Body, which discussed major diseases and their likely psychosomatic cause. This list was expanded and extended in her official book, You Can Heal Your Life (1984), which became a success and by 2008 was still on the bestseller lists in the United States. In addition to founding a teaching institute, she established a foundation and the publishing house Hay House, which published several works by authors such as Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, and Jerry Hicks, among others
She promoted alternative therapy programs and actively collaborated with AIDS patients. Her life experience led her to conduct multiple conferences, seminars, and public appearances, offering advice to combat fears and the causes of people's discomforts.
