Yuji Kaku (賀来ゆうじ) is a Japanese mangaka born in Tokyo, known for his dynamic style and intense narratives. He started his career as an editor in 2007 and debuted as an author in 2009 with the one-shot Memory Customs, which received an honorable mention at the Jump SQ Comic Grand Prix. Between 2016 and 2018, he worked as an assistant to Tatsuki Fujimoto on Fire Punch, an experience that influenced his artistic development. In 2013, he launched his first series, Fantasma, published in Jump Square.
His most notable work is Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku (2018–2021), a dark fantasy action series serialized in Shōnen Jump+, which gained great popularity and was adapted into an anime in 2023. In 2021, he published Ayashimon in Weekly Shōnen Jump, a story that mixes supernatural elements and yakuza, although it was canceled in 2022 after three volumes. Kaku continues to be an influential figure in contemporary manga, recognized for his ability to combine intense action with deep psychological explorations.
