Con motivo de cumplirse en 2018 cuarenta años de la tensión limítrofe con Argentina por el Canal Beagle, la Academia de Historia Militar ha querido publicar una obra de síntesis – dirigida al público general—relate los hechos políticos, diplomáticos y –muy especialmente— militares que acontecieron durante los años 1977 y 1978, en relación al diferendo limítrofe con Argentina. En sus páginas se descubre el despliegue estratégico que realizó el Ejército a lo largo de toda la frontera con Argentina y que llevó a que más de 125.000 chilenos –civiles movilizados y militares— ocuparan sus puestos de combate en defensa de la soberanía nacional.
