Synopsis "ABC's of New Orleans"

This book is a part of my passion to continue teaching children in the city of New Orleans. It is an opportunity to show children all over the world some of the historic landmarks we call home. I hope you will enjoy the illustrations that my son labored over for months. The book is one of our biggest accomplishments. Karen H. Blanchard was born and raised in the city of New Orleans. She attended the New Orleans Public School System and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Dillard University. Upon graduation, she began teaching in the New Orleans Public School System. Karen developed a love for writing in the third grade when she won her first poetry contest. She returned to school and received her Master's Degree from Xavier University of New Orleans. Like so many residents of the city, she and her family were relocated by Hurricane Katrina. Though she resides and teaches in Fort Worth, Texas, her heart and soul belong to the magical city where she grew up. It is her love for the city that inspired this book. It is dedicated to my grandbabies Jade, Naiyah, and Nasir Blanchard who are Texans and who will never know my New Orleans. It's for the generation of babies whose parents for whatever reason didn't return to our fair city. Last but not least for those, "who know what it means to miss New Orleans." Laissez les bons temps rouler (let the good times roll). Brandon was born and raised in the city of New Orleans. His mother realized at the tender age of four he had a talent for visual art. Brandon studied under world renowned Richard Thomas. He was a member of Mr. Thomas Pieces of a Dream Artists. His work has been displayed at Mr. Thomas art studio as well Xavier University of New Orleans. Brandon went on to study at NOCCA (New Orleans School of Contempary Fine Arts). Brandon won third place in the 911 Regional Contest. He received an associates degree in fine arts and is currently working on an advanced degree. Though he resides in Texas, since Hurricane Katrina; his love and compassion for the city he calls home is evident in the illustrations of this book.
