Lumber, textiles, shipping, the railroad, and higher education contributed to its growth, creating a city with a unique personality. Burlington's story is aboutcommunity and people; sometimes poignant, ofteneccentric, but always intriguing. More than 200 photographs from selected sources take Burlington from 1860 to 1960, and give the reader a glimpse of the people, places, and events that created the city we know today.
