Ahí empieza su calvario: vagando por la ciudad le echan de todas partes, tropieza con un teólogo progre que está borracho, le atracan unos navajeros, le acoge una prostituta, le detienen los municipales? hasta que una intervención sobrenatural le permite salir de tan gran apuro.
En esta mordaz y divertida sátira de tintes volterianos hay también ternura y una carga de humanidad que convierten la novela en una brillante fantasía que va más lejos de lo que a simple vista podría parecer.
