Synopsis "El Retrato de Dorian Gray (in Spanish)"

The Portrait of Dorian Gray is considered to be one of the last works of classical gothic horror novels with a strong Faustian theme. It was first published in Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine on June 20, 1890, bringing up a considerable amount of controversy. The novel tells the story of a young boy named Dorian Gray, depicted by the artist Basil Hallward, who is greatly impressed by Dorian’s physical beauty. Upon realizing that one day, his beauty would fade, Dorian wished to remain the same age that Basil had portrayed him as. Dorian’s wish is granted: while he will always remain the same age, his portrait is the one to age in his place.
