K ostas Steryópulos es sin lugar a dudas uno de los valores más seguros del panorama actual de la literatura griega. Poeta, novelista, crítico y ensayista, Kostas nació en Atenas en 1926. Desde 1966 a 1969 trabajó como profesor de filología neohelénica en la Universidad de Atenas, de donde fue expulsado durante la dictadura de los coroneles. En 1974 fue nombrado profesor titular de la cátedra de filología neohelénica de la Universidad de Ioánnina y desde 1986 es catedrático emérito de la misma.Ha sido Premio Nacional de Poesía en 1961 y 1993 y traducido a diversas lenguas. Actualmente es el Presidente de la Sociedad de Autores de Grecia.
