Synopsis "Francisco, El Ingenio O Las Delicias del Campo (in Spanish)"

Ambientada en la Cuba colonial de principios del XIX, Francisco, el ingenio o las delicias del campo narra los desdichados amores de dos esclavos, Francisco y Dorotea, a quienes la señora Mendizábal, ama autoritaria y egoista, niega el permiso para casarse; pero la pasión de ambos, lejos de desaparecer, crece más todavía con la negativa y Dorotea da a luz una niña. Iracunda y mortificada por la desobediencia, la señora Mendizábal envía a Francisco a un ingenio azucarero para que allí sufra todos los rigores del trabajo esclavo y destina a Dorotea al lavado en casa de francesas.Ricardo, hijo de la señora, enamorado de Dorotea y constantemente rechazado, somete a Francisco a suplicios inhumanos en el ingenio hasta que esta se entrega para salvar a su amante de una muerte cierta, que no consigue evitar.
