Uno podría decir cosas más o menos coherentes, inteligentes o racionales, pero de repente las cosas se dan de otro modo. Esto lo he repetido mucho, porque es la verdad. Al leer ciertos diarios atrasados, me encontré con un titular que decía: «¿Cómo vai a morir, Canaquita?» «Sin chistar porque sería feo». Había algo ahí que me interesó. Algo que no tenía nada que ver con mi mundo. Seguí leyendo y encontré que el juez preguntaba al asesino: «¿Por qué mataste a los niños?», y éste respondía: «Pa’ que no sufrieran los pobrecitos». Luego me interesó mucho más. Había una diferencia de valores morales entre lo que pensaba ese hombre, ese mundo y lo que pensaba el juez, o sea, alguien como todos nosotros, los que estamos aquí, los que pertenecemos al sistema.
