Cuatro hermanos astures se ven obligados a escapar de su castro natal, perseguidos por una familia rival que ha asesinado a su familia y cuenta con el apoyo del gobernador romano de la provincia. Los cuatro juran vengar con sangre la injusticia cometida. En su huida se verán forzados a alistarse en las legiones romanas como auxiliares. Allí serán destinados a Germania, donde tomarán parte en la legendaria batalla de Teutoburgo. Servirán al general Julio Cesar Germánico, heredero del emperador Tiberio, en su guerra contra Arminio, el caudillo germano. Bajo su mando directo se verán envueltos en conjuras que cambiarán el destino del Imperio romano.
