English: This book examines the ideology of José Martí, based on his intellectual formation, and in accordance with what was stated in the chronicles he wrote about the United States during the 15 years he resided in this country, before his death in Cuba in 1895. There is an effort to establish the affinity between the ideas expressed by Marti in his essays and those of the French thinker Felicite R. de Lamennais, one of the leaders of the movement known as Social Romanticism. Spanish: En el presente libro se estudia la ideologia de Jose Marti, partiendo de su formacion intelectual, y conforme la expuso en las cronicas que escribio sobre los Estados Unidos durante los 15 anos de su estancia en este pais, antes de su muerte en Cuba en 1895. Hay un esfuerzo por establecer la afinidad que existe entre las ideas expresadas por Marti en sus ensayos y las del pensador frances Felicite R. Lamennais, uno de los líderes del movimiento conocido como el Romanticismo Social. A fin de conseguir este objetivo se ha analizado y organizado el contenido de las cronicas dentro del marco ideologico del Romanticismo Social.
