Synopsis "Kakembo: A Heart Connection"

As very young boys, Kakembo and his little brother, Joseph, were left to live on the streets of Mityana, Uganda. Their father had died in a war, and eventually their mother passed away. With no relatives or support, life was a dangerous and very insecure world of cold, hunger and thirst. Fortunately, a pastor and his wife gave the boys a home, saving them from a desperate and cruel world. As other small children were slowly added, a children's orphanage ensued under the care of the pastor and his wife. As the brothers took over duties, the Covid-19 pandemic hit leaving the orphanage with severe financial and food shortages along with much illness. With incredible odds for survival, you will be inspired by Kakembo's unyielding faith and effort to persevere for the sake of his children! Through an unexpected providential encounter between Kakembo and the author, two lives and two worlds become intertwined dramatically changing both of them! This book will give you inside glimpses into the heart and life struggles, as well as very joyous victories! Follow this emotional journey, and let your hearts connect as well. Verna Deno has a varied career as previous missionary, pastor's wife, multi-cultural school admistrative assistant, and bilingual tutor. Her travels include countries such as Italy, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, and most recently Africa. Her combined intercultural experiences contribute to the pursuit of her lifelong desire to write. This book reflects the convoluted trials and joys of her love for other cultures, including an extraordinary young Ugandan man and his adorable 33 orphans!
