Muchos creyentes se han preguntado por la Teología: en qué consiste, dónde se fundamenta, cuál es su ámbito, a qué certezas llega y por qué caminos o con qué método. Esta preocupación es muy antigua y los filósofos de todos los tiempos han tratado de contestar reflexionando, sobre todo, a partir de la naturaleza, en la que han visto las huellas del Creador. Tal forma de contestar a es-tas preguntas se denomina «teología natu-ral», que aquí no abordamos. Nuestra obra se centra en la «teología sobrenatural», y se plantea, entre otras muchas cuestiones, el fundamento de la teología cristiana, su metodología y los caminos por los que discurre. El ensayo finaliza con un breve análisis de la encíclica «Fides et ratio», de Juan Pablo II.
