Com si fossin cossos celestes, els personatges de la novel·la sinflueixen els uns als altres sense tocar-se. La novel·la aprofundeix en la possibilitat que viure no tingui un proposit i en la influencia que el desarrelament i les mancances exerceixen sobre els somnis i el futur.
