La glorieta de los fugitivos reúne, por una parte, además de otros inéditos, los minicuentos, microrrelatos, o  "nanocuentos" publicados por José María Merino hasta la fecha en los libros Días imaginarios y Cuentos del libro de la noche, que se nutren de la extrañeza de lo cotidiano, el misterio del tiempo, los espacios fronterizos entre sueño y vigilia y todos los elementos fantásticos habituales en la narrativa del autor. Se ofrece de este modo un edición que recopila toda su minificción completa. El libro incorpora también una parte -"La Glorieta miniatura"- que pudiéramos llamar teórica, si no estuviese formulada en forma también de ficciones brevísimas, que constituye su intervención en el IV Congreso Internacional de Minificción que tuvo lugar en la Universidad de Neu­chatel (noviembre de 2006), acompañada de varios diver­tidos "ejercicios prácticos".
