This book is a novel that tells the story of Antonio and Fernando Bachicao, father and son, both officers of the Ministry of the Interior. Colonel Antonio Bachicao, former member of Che Guevara's troop, is a high-level agent of the section specializing in espionage and subversion. His son Fernando, a lawyer, has the rank of captain and is the head of the Department of Technical Investigations in Santiago de Cuba, which investigates common crimes. In a cave of the Sierra Maestra, a farmer's child discovers by chance the decade old skeleton of a murdered man. Captain Bachicao is intrigued by certain interesting details of the discovery and is in charge of the case. Their research will lead to a tragedy whose climax will take place in New Orleans during the onsslaugh of Hurricane Katrina.
