Joan Margarit i Consarnau, poeta en catalán, nació en Sanaüja (La Segarra,Lleida) en 1938.Ha publicado, en edición bilingüe con versiones en castellano del autor (excepto "Edat roja", dentro de ,versión de Antonio Jiménez Millán) los siguientes libros: El primer frío: Poesía 1975-1995 (2004), Estació de França (1999), Joana (2002), Cálculo de estructuras (2005), Casa de misericordia (2007). En el ámbito de la literatura catalana le han sido concedidos los Premios Miquel de Palol y Vicent Andrés Estellés de 1982, el premio Carles Riba de 1985, el Premio de la crítica Serra d'Or de 1982,1987 y 2007,el Premio Gabriel Ferrrater de 2007, el Premio Cavall Verd de 2008 y el Premi Nacional de Literatura de la Generalitat de Catalunya, también de 2008. En el ámbito del Estado Español le han concedido el Premio Nacional de la Crítica de 1984 y de 2008, el Premio Rosalía de Castro de 2008 y el Premio Nacional de Poesía, también de 2008.
