Alex Loira, un chico italiano de 16 anos, cae al suelo desmayado en medio de un partido de baloncesto. En ese mismo momento, Jenny Graver, una chica australiana de la misma edad, tambien cae desmayada en su casa. En los ultimos cuatro anos este tipo de evento se ha venido repitiendo con frecuencia. Alex y Jenny perciben la presencia de uno en el otro, como una voz que habla en su consciencia. Pronto descubren que se pueden comunicar telepaticamente y ansiosos por conocerse se citan en el muelle de Altona Beach, en Melbourne. Ambos estan alli. O al menos eso dicen.
