Pero la novela narra tambien la historia de todos aquellos que entretejen sus vidas con la construccion de la faraonica obra. Entre ellos, un minero chino de diecisiete anos, una intendenta rusa, unos buscadores de oro, un conductor de gruas... Y, al mando, el jefe de obra, un ingeniero egolatra y alcoholico que surca el planeta de proyecto en proyecto en su afan de domesticar el espacio. Al ritmo de la construccion del puente, con el que el alcalde pretende acabar con el aislamiento economico del lugar, la novela discurre vital y violenta como la lucha entre los hombres y la naturaleza que estos tratan de conquistar. / The Coca Bridge, in an imaginary California, is the cement and steel dream of a megalomaniac mayor. This is a project that arises after time spent in Dubai, where a politician experiences a mystic rapture before the proliferation of skyscrapers and is infected by the fever of progress and so decides to spread it in his own city. But the novel also narrates the story of those whose lives are entwined with the construction of the pharaonic build. Among them, a seventeen year old Chinese miner, a Russian supervisor, those in search of gold, a crane driver, and in charge, the boss of the building site, an alcoholic and egocentric engineer who ploughs through the world of the project in his keen desire to domesticate the space. At the rhythm of the bridges construction, which the mayor hopes will bring an end to the areas economic isolation, the novel flows with vitality and violence like the battle between man and the natural world that they attempt to conquer.
