Azul. Prosas profanas. Cantos de Vida y Esperanza. España Contemporanea. Félix Rubén García Sarmiento nació en 1867, en San Pedro de Metapa, hoy Ciudad Darío, Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Conocido por su seudónimo: Rubén Darío. Durante unos años se educa fuera del hogar, en casa de un tío suyo, el coronel Ramírez, que junto con su esposa, doña Bernarda Sarmiento, prohíjan a Rubén. En 1888, en Valparaíso, ve la luz el primer libro de Darío, que alcanza resonancia universal: Azul. El 22 de junio de 1890 Rubén Darío contrae matrimonio con la hija del periodista hondureño Álvaro Contreras, siendo entonces director de El Correo de la tarde.
