Cornelia Funke (Dorsten, Alemania, 1958) estudió pedagogía e ilustración. Pronto empezó a trabajar como ilustradora de libros infantiles y a escribir para un público joven. Ha escrito más de cuarenta libros que han sido traducidos a más de treinta idiomas y varios guiones de televisión. Algunos de sus títulos han sido llevados al cine, el más reciente, Corazón de tinta, protagonizado por Brendan Fraser.
