Este libro reúne una selección de la poesía del escritor mexicano Jaime Sabines, una de las figuras más importantes de la literatura hispanoamericana. Pieces of Shadow reúne poemas de algunas de sus obras más reconocidas, tales como Horal (1950), Tarumba (1956), Yuria (1967) o Other Collected Poems (1950-1995), títulos con los que Sabines ganó muchos lectores devotos y críticas entusiastas. Esta antología ha sido traducida al inglés por el poeta norteamericano W. S. Merwin.Jaime Sabines ganó el Premio Mazatlán de Literatura 1996 por Pieces of Shadow (1995), antología de su poesía traducida al inglés por el poeta W. S. Merwin y publicada en edición bilingüe.
