Extraordinario poeta romántico. Discípulo de Don Manuel González Prada. Dirige el diario El Departamento, de Huaraz. Con mucha valentía, su pluma denuncia los abusos de los terratenientes y caciques. Uno de ellos, denunciado muchas veces, por violaciones sexuales a las jóvenes de sus dominios (Derecho de Pernada) lo asesina de un balazo, en la puerta de su casa, el 3 de abril de 1914. Estaba programado su traslado a Europa, para hacerse cargo de una Embajada.
