Synopsis "Sahara. La Provincia Olvidada (in Spanish)"

The war that confronted Spain and Morocco in 1957 and 1958 took place in two very different scenarios, Ifni and Western Sahara. It was a dark contest, hidden in its development and consequences to the quiet and suffering Spainich public opinion. When the fighting began, the armed forces were in no position to wage a modern war, not even against an irregular army and at a short distance from the metropolis. In spite of this, on the basis of courage and sacrifice the Moroccan attack was stopped and the invaders were expelled from Spanish territory. The present work is a small attempt to bring to all types of public the most significant events of this silenced war, forgotten and almost erased from memory and history books. In it, hundreds of Spaniards gave their lives defending their country; many of them recuited soldiers who left their peaceful and quiet life to do military service and were taken by plane or boat to defend territories most of them knew absolutely nothing. Sixty years after the end of the war, their memory and what they did, should not be forgotten, even though the ungrateful Spanish governments, and the lack of memory of their compatriots, have done so ever since.
