Human history has been shaped by three major revolutions: the Cognitive Revolution (70,000 years ago), the Agricultural Revolution (10,000 years ago), and the Scientific Revolution (500 years ago). These revolutions have empowered humans to do something no other form of life has done, which is to create and connect around ideas that do not physically exist (think religion, capitalism, and politics). These shared “myths” have enabled humans to take over the globe and have put humankind on the verge of overcoming the forces of natural selection.
Es profesor de Historia en la Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalén. Se especializó en Historia Medieval e Historia Militar, aunque sus investigaciones actuales se centran en los procesos macrohistóricos y en las relaciones entre historia y biología. Es considerado uno de los intelectuales más influyentes nuestro tiempo. En 2019, tras el reconocimiento internacional de sus libros, Yuval Noah Harari e Itzik Yahav fundaron Sapienship, una organización cuya misión es alentar la conversación global, señalar los desafíos más importantes y apoyar la búsqueda de soluciones colectivas. En 2018 y 2020 dio sendas conferencias magistrales en el Foro Económico Mundial de Davos. Asimismo, a lo largo de su trayectoria se ha reunido con líderes internacionales como Angela Merkel, Mauricio Macri, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, o con Mark Zuckerberg, CEO de Facebook, con quien conversó sobre el futuro de la tecnología.
