Autora estadounidense, Shelby Mahurin es conocida por sus obras de young adult con tintes de fantasía. Creció en una pequeña granja de Indiana y fue allí donde cultivó su gran imaginación, que terminaría plasmando sobre papel y convirtiendo en historias.

La idea para escribir su saga más famosa, Asesino de brujas, surgió gracias a las llamadas Dames Blanches, unas criaturas a veces brujas, a veces espíritus, del folklore francés. A partir de estos seres mitológicos fue dando forma a la trama y los personajes de sus novelas.

En 2019 vio la luz la primera entrega de la serie, Asesino de brujas. La bruja blanca, con la que Mahurin llegó a ocupar la segunda posición en la lista de bestsellers del New York Times. Más adelante se publicarían la segunda y tercera parte, y se traducirían a otros idiomas como el español.
