Synopsis "Simple How-To Plant and Grow Horse Chestnut, Ohio Buckeye, and Red Buckeye Trees: 3 Trees for Shade in the Landscape"
Three popularly planted trees for the spikes of flowers, are the Horsechestnut, Red Buckeye, and Ohio Buckeye. Plant these in the home garden landscape as ornamental specimens and flowering shade. The buckeyes are hardy, and make a hefty windbreak or green barrier component. Buckeye fruit is a nut encased in a smooth to spiny, a three-parted capsule, containing one to three large woody seeds. The seed is dark chocolate to chestnut brown in color, and shiny. One side of the seed is light brown, making the seed resemble an eye, hence the name, "buckeye."
