Written by a Pennsylvania Native, "Snippets of Life; A Collection of Short Stories," illustrates experiences in a time when runaway carriages were a danger, and when something needed work, you did it yourself. Kern brings the reader into a small town in south central Pennsylvania, called Dallastown and tells tales of his childhood, some fantasy pieces, and some pieces about lessons from life. "I had never intended to write, let alone publish a book. This book is a compilation of stories I have written, with the hope that my descendants might enjoy getting to know what life was like for a lowly twig on their family tree. I have often thought how great it would have been, had my grandfather, or even my father, had left such a treasure. However, I have a granddaughter who shares my interest in writing, and when I asked her to help me compile them, she did one better. Suddenly, instead of a stack of faded papers stapled together, I am now an author! I love humor and nostalgia. My hope is that all who read these stories will find much of both." - E. Jerome Kern
