Synopsis "The Antichrist"

First published in 1895, 'The Antichrist' it is an absolute onslaught on Christianity instead of an explanation on evil or Satan by Friedrich Nietzsche, a German philosopher, cultural critic and philologist whose work has exerted a profound influence on contemporary philosophical history. Nietzsche delivers a highly controversial view of Christianity as a harmful impact upon western civilization that must come to an end. Regardless of one's religious or philosophical point of view, it makes for an engaging philosophical discourse. In this book, Nietzsche is very critical of standardized religion and its priest class, from which he himself was dropped. The bulk of the book is a systematic, logical and detailed attack upon the interpretations of Christ's words by St. Paul and those who followed him. The reference to the Antichrist is not intended to refer to the biblical Antichrist but is rather an attack on the ""slave morality"" and apathy of Western Christianity.
