Synopsis "The Dawning of the Kneph: The Egyptian Influence on Rosicrucianism 1614-2014"
The Western Mystery Tradition embraces Ancient Egypt as the source of its heritage. After Napoléon's expedition to the Land of the Sphinx and the Scarab at the end of the XVIII century, Egypt became the main source for inspiration for the Occult. But why the fascination with the Black Land and where is this influence most visible in our Mystery Tradition? Well, this book pretends to present an overview of this influence on the (current) Western Mystery Tradition, and more specifically on the so-called Rosicrucian current. Emphasis is placed on the period between 1614, when the first of the Rosicrucian Manifestoes was published (1), up to the present day. The numerous references to Ancient Egypt in Rosicrucian/ Hermetic philosophy, Egyptian styled rites and rituals, the impact of Egypt on initiatory Orders and societies, more ancient and modern, all these subjects (and more) will be dealt with in greater depth in the this book
