Synopsis "The Third Part of the Ecclesiastical History of John, Bishop of Ephesus (Syriac Studies Library) (in Siríaco)"

William Cureton, in an Estrangela script based on that of the single manuscript on which the edition is based, here presents the third (and last) part of John of Ephesus (c. 507-c. 588; also known as John of Asia) Ecclesiastical History in Syriac, which covers the years 571-585; this third part is the most complete section of John's History that is extant. It is especially of interest for the details it offers of happenings around Constantinople at this time. A brief introduction in English touches on the manuscript and the style and content of the work. Jessie Payne Margoliouth later selected portions of John s History in a Syriac reader with notes, also available from Gorgias Press.
