Aunque empezó formándose como protésico dental, tenía como afición dibujar manga y ganó una mención especial en el Premio Kazuo Umezu, precisamente uno de sus autores favoritos. Entre sus obras más conocidas, distinguidas por su carácter perturbador, se cuentan Tomie, Gyo, Black Paradox o Uzumaki.
