Amélie Nothomb (Kobe, Japan, 1967), born as Fabienne Claire Nothomb, is an acclaimed Belgian writer in the French language and a member of the Royal Academy of French Language and Literature of Belgium. Although she comes from a renowned Brussels family, she spent her childhood and youth in Asia, where her father, a diplomat, served in countries such as China and Japan. This multicultural experience has left a deep imprint on her work, characterized by her witty style, psychological sharpness, and her ability to explore universal themes with a touch of irony and black humor.
